Dr. Alanna Weisman

CLINICIAN SCIENTIST

Dr. Alanna Weisman is a clinician-scientist and endocrinologist at the Leadership Sinai Centre for Diabetes.

She obtained her MD from Queen’s University, Kingston, Canada and her PhD in Clinical Epidemiology and Health Care Research from the University of Toronto.

As part of her research program in type 1 diabetes Dr. Weisman is leading the development of a new province-wide database. This database will drive new research analysis by Dr. Weisman’s team and others for people living with type 1 diabetes.

Dr. Weisman is also leading studies of the real-world feasibility of recommended glycemic targets in type 1 diabetes, and is examining the impact of government-funded insulin pump programs on the uptake of this technology in people with type 1 diabetes.

Dr. Weisman has published more than 30 primary research articles in peer-reviewed journals to date.

Major Research Activities

Dr. Weisman’s research program will utilize epidemiologic and health services research methods to study determinants of outcomes in type 1 diabetes, which ultimately will inform the design of novel interventions to improve outcomes for people living with type 1 diabetes.
